Oops.

So I've had 2 embarrassing moments this week. One happened an hour or so ago. I won "Dinner and Games" with a family in our ward at a service auction. Tonight they were making good on it. So we were sitting playing catch phrase--boys against girls--and Luke (who is sitting next to me) gets the word FEMALE. He says, "Mom is one of these." And Jonah yells out, "PREGNANT?!?"

For the record I AM NOT PREGNANT, but it was quite embarrassing and I'm not sure the people we were playing with really believe me that I'm not. Kind of reminds me of the time when Rachel was 3 1/2 and told her pre-school teacher that I was pregnant. I was not aware at the time that I was so I said NO. Then a couple of weeks later discovered that Rachel had been aware of something I wasn't!!

The other occurrence was when our neighbor (and Rachel's friend) Denver came over. I answered the door and he asked for Rachel. She was in the shower at the time, so I said she couldn't come down. He then said, "My mom was wondering if SHE can read Twilight." Well, the way he said it I thought he was talking about Rachel, and we have not let her read it yet. So I said, "No." To which he said, "Oh, are you reading it right now?" And I said, "Um, no, we just want her to wait for awhile." He got a puzzled look on his face and hesitantly said, "Okay." and turned around to leave. I started to shut the door and then realized he was not asking if RACHEL could read it, but if his MOTHER could read it. I opened the door back up and said, "Do you mean your mom wants to read it?" He said yes, and then I turned 6 shades of red. What an idiot. Could you imagine if he had gone home and told his mom we wanted her to wait a while until she reads it...like maybe when you're 50 you'll be mature enough for the relationships in this book.

I need a nap!

Did I mention I'm famous??

Last summer some ladies in our neighborhood put together a children's production of "A mid-summer nights dream." It was fantastic. Rachel was the stage hand--she missed the tryouts. Anywho...I took MANY pictures and gave a disc with them to my friends who put it together. Well, the developer of our neighborhood asked if they could also have a copy.

I graciously complied. ;) That was last July. So a month or so ago I'm driving down the street and notice this billboard. I said to Rachel, "I think I took that picture." She of course thought I was joking. So the other day I finally got around to looking into my files and sure enough it's official.

The origional

A little lonely...

It's tough to be the youngest. I remember wanting to go with my big sister and her friends and was clearly not welcome. Seth found himself in this position the other day. Luke went down to a friends house and I told Seth he needed to stay home.

A little bit later I heard him upstairs saying, "watch out for cars..." I went up to see who he was talking to and--being the resourceful child that he is--he found a friend. Of the "rolley polley" variety. He had him on the train table and was driving matchbox cars around him and teaching him some important safety rules.

So I was driving home the other day and saw this heron in the pond behind our house...GORGEOUS!

After so LONG days, I finally finished the scrapbooks that Rachel will be giving to our State Senators and Representative at the Children's Congress. I don't ever want to look at another piece of scrapbook paper again.

Bon Voyage...

We had to bid farewell to Jared's parents a couple of weeks ago. They left for Geneva, Switzerland for a 2 year humanitarian assignment for our church. They will be working at the UN with the ambassadors from different countries to find ways our church can assist in humanitarian needs.

I felt that we needed to give them a big send off, and so I made a lovely sign and festive rice krispie treats.

We miss them terribly, but are excited to hear about all their adventures.

A little road trip...

Luke and I took a little trip to Portland to see a Pediatric Epileptologist. We had a great time. I have to say that I think the driving along the Columbia Rivier on I-84 is the most beautiful drive. I want to go back with Jared and the other kids.

It was fun to spend some time with my little Luke. He is a fun kid. the Grays were kind enough to let us stay with them for a night and then we headed down to Eugene to see my brother Dan, Zibbey, Noah and Sloane. So fun!

While in Portland we went to OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science & Industry)--it was so AWESOME...and we did a little hike at Multnomah Falls. It was beautiful.

We didn't make any big progress in regards to Luke's epilepsy, but it will be good to have an extra set of eyes on the situation.

A Dozen years...

I can hardly believe that 12 years have gone by. Rachel is just about looking me straight in the eye...it won't be long until I'm looking up to her!

She had a great birthday party (thanks SBJ)! It was a mystery dinner. The girls were great sports and all came in character. It was a blast. We made a red carpet coming up to the house and a walk of stars along the sidewalk in front of our house. I'm sure our neighbors think I'm crazy.

Rachel has mande some good friends here. I'm glad she had such a great birthday.

Spring Break

Spring Break in Moab was a blast! A little colder than I would prefer, but we enjoyed every minute!
