On Friday (thinking we were over it all) we packed up and headed to Elko to meet my parents and sisters. We had a wonderful birthday dinner for my dad at the Nevada--one of his favorite Basque restaurants in Elko. His cousin L.E. Simmons and wife Ginny were there from Houston for the Ellison Ranching Company stockholders meeting on Saturday. The plan was for us all to go to the meeting and lunch on Saturday and then head home...
Plans changed when Rachel started her "experience" with the bug at about 11:30 p.m. Friday. I have never seen a kid so sick. Poor girl. After a couple of hours of her not being able to keep anything down and not being able to keep her blood sugar up...we decided it was time for a little help so Jared took her to the ER. I think they were excited to have a patient because they wanted to run every test in the book on her. With Jared's encouragement they settled on an IV to keep her hydrated and help bring up her blood sugar.
They finally made it back at about 2 and the puking resumed...so I made the executive decision that we needed to skip the lunch and head home ASAP! By morning Jared wasn't feeling well either...but his subsided on the road and I think he's fine. Seth had a relapse on the drive home which was not fun, but manageable. So far I'm the only one who hasn't had any problems...I'm hoping we're over the hump of it all and are moving forward!!
Jonah did stay behind to help my sister Ann in the car on the way home. Travis wasn't there, so driving with 6 month old twins can be a challenge. He was a great help. Here are some pictures of him with Sammy, Cael & Whit at the PX Ranch where the stockholders meeting was held. The PX is a new ranch that Ellison Ranching just bought...it was owned by Bing Crosby in the 1950's I believe. It is a beautiful Ranch. I hope we can head down again soon when we are all on the up and up!
