We made it!!!

Two weeks ago our Bishop told the congregation that in 1 week (a week ago Sunday) he was going to ask us all to go for one week without going to the grocery store or any eating establishments. We had one week to prepare.

So last Sunday he did ask us to try to live on what we had in our homes...it really was more like 8 1/2 days because Sunday to Sunday and then part of Monday until you can get to the store--following me???

We made it and had a great week. I had to be creative a couple of times like blending up diced tomatoes so they were crushed because I forgot to buy the crushed ones...but no big inconveniences. So yesterday in church he suggested that we should all evaluate what our week was like and make adjustments to our preparedness plans "in the event that in like six months we do the same thing without warning."

It was fun. I wish I would have had the kids in on it more. I don't think they realized what was going on much since I got everything we needed for the week. We even had 2 gallons of milk left. That's what I worried about the most. Unfortunately on Saturday I realized that our fridge in the garage was not cooling properly. So, we lost some stuff...including our 2 remaining gallons of milk and about $12 of chicken. Bummer.

So now I'm on a quest to get our supply up to speed after the move...we left a lot of our storage behind. Off to get some potato pearls!!
