I lost my toenail on my left foot and I'm pretty sure my right foot will need to be amputated...

I will not be posting pictures of my ailments...

So I backed my shopping cart over my toe at Wal-Mart on Saturday. It was quite painful...I thought of some things I could say if I had a potty mouth...but I don't so I won't. Tonight my sweet little pinky toenail finally came off. It did not hurt nearly as much as I was anticipating, and I am hoping it won't be long until a new one grows in. I miss it already.

Did I mention I have a painful cyst? Well, I do. Last summer when my family was at our ranch in Nevada we were riding horses and the horse I was on--Roxy--decided to try to buck me off. It was quite a horrifying experience. She was not successful in getting me off of her, but in the process I twisted my right ankle in the stirrup and it HURT! My ankle was swollen for awhile after that, and then in December I noticed a lump on my foot. At the time I was pretty sure it was cancer and so I waited until like February to go in and have it checked out. I'm responsible like that.

I had an X-ray and was referred to a Orthopaedist. When I went to the Ortho I saw the P.A. and he suggested I wear a sleeping boot (my kids called me sleeping booty) because it seemed that when I was laying down in bed it was most painful. Well, the sleeping boot did NOTHING, and so I went back for another check. An MRI was finally ordered...which was a nightmare too--my foot kept involuntarily twitching and they'd have to re-do the scans. And basically the MRI confirmed what they pretty much already knew from the X-ray--that I had a cyst that had likely developed from the trauma to my ankle from our friend Roxy the horse.

So back to the Ortho and they give me the option of having it drained. I scream, "YES! Just do SOMETHING! I haven't slept for weeks!" So the guy gets the biggest needle he can find tells me that they usually don't get much fluid out of them and proceeds to fill the entire syringe with orange puss. I was told he had never seen anything like it. Not really as flattering as it sounds. They injected the site with Cortisone to try to prevent regrowth...the Cortisone made me almost pass out. I had to lay on the table for a half hour before I could leave. Not real fun.

So that was in May...and my little cyst friend has returned. It looks bigger to me than it was before, however it is not causing me quite as much grief as before. I need to call and make an appointment to see about having it removed...I was waiting until after girls camp etc. because I'm guessing I will not be able to drive for a bit...and it would be fun to have the fall line up of TV shows to lay in bed and watch while Jared brings me snacks. ;)

So there you have it. My goal for tomorrow is to post about the actually interesting and fun things that have been going on and no more talk of orange puss.

Sounds absolutely horrible, sleeping booty. Hopefully you get that cyst remedied quickly. If Roxy only knew the kind of pain she'd caused you....

Hope all is well - we'll have to Skype with you guys soon. Love to you all.

OUCH! No one else could describe such a thing as cysts and puss in such a witty way. You can make even agony sound hilarious (which I'm sure it's not.). Hope this time the cyst can be removed for good! Look forward to the next installment.
