I was just telling my mom that this is my favorite time of year in Houston. Jared arrived 7 years ago this week to start his new job at Compaq. Rachel, Jonah and I stayed in L.A. until February to tie some things up--and just so I could adjust to the idea of leaving.
When we got here in February it was so nice. About mid-70's. I remember buying a few things at Target for Rachel because all the clothes I brought were too hot! We lived in an apartment for 2 months while we looked for a house. The kids and I spent the mornings house hunting, and then the afternoons we'd go to a park or play in the parking lot with a blue's clues ball I'd bought--we were one of a half dozen people in these apartments. They were very new.
Anyway, this time of year makes me happy. It always feels like a fresh start. Today it was about 65. Just right. For FHE we planned our week. No school on Monday--MLK day. So we decided we'd plan a nature "hike" somewhere and some other activities.
I just checked the weather. Monday=35 degrees and 95% chance of SLEET!!! Tuesday shows a 65% chance of snow. Believe me I will be posting pictures if it pulls through. The kids were so disappointed 2 years ago when we went to SLC for Christmas and it snowed here on Christmas day. Yes, they had snow in Utah, but that was to be expected. To miss a snowfall in Houston was painful for them. What a treat it would be.
That is Houston. I'm guessing we need to come up with something else. Actually we'll probably wait until Sunday to make alternate plans...it could change 12 times until then. Happy winter!
