Apparently the Red Cross only likes people with Iron in their blood. I was turned away--told "it was for my own safety"...sure.
The lady gave me a list of iron rich foods I could try eating in the next 12 hours and then I could come back the next day, and while a bag of spinach for breakfast, lunch and dinner may not be a bad idea for myself...I told her I'd just try again next time.
No one is feeling well over here at the Casa de Hansen. Well, with the exception of Seth--although at night when it is time for him to go to bed he puts on his fake sad face and tries to mask a smile while he says "I'm not feeling good". It is generally followed with, "can I play da Wii?" or a request for the Cha Cha slide to dance to. Jared definitely has it the worst. I'm just trying to keep my distance so I don't get what he has. I've got enough problems being anemic and all...
Rachel has to present her research paper on Abigail Adams to a panel of teachers tomorrow. I am a bit nervous as she has done it all on her own. She seems to have done a good job on the paper, but her presentation right now is timed at 1 minute 47 seconds and is supposed to be 2-5 minutes. She did pick out a fabulous outfit and hairstyle last night, though. Yes, she is almost 11!
Well, I guess I'll go remove some of the people from my bed...Jared can stay, but the other 2 who are sprawled out and the reason for me posting at 3 a.m. need to be returned to their proper spots...at least until they come back at 5 a.m....

Next time drink a gallon of black strap molassis before you go in!! Ha, Ha. it's loaded with iron.
Let me know how Rachel's paper on Abigail Adams is going. I'm reading an amazing book on John and Abigail right now and think to myself I wish I knew these two people!
Liver and onions......... Have you guys tried the tissues with Vicks? They are awesome. I'm sure Rachel will do great.
Maybe try some iron pills. I too am anemic and that's what I take. Rough stuff, ey? ;) Never been able to give blood. I wish I could; I don't want to brag, but think I've got great blood...works well for me, anyway. Oh yeah...accept for the whole iron thing. ;)
Sorry to hear that you're all feeling a bit under the weather...at least you have Seth there to entertain you in your misery. ( :
Good luck to Rachel - I'll be anxious to see if she's got the gift of gab & can stretch that 1:45 to 2:15...I'd say that ought to be gabby enough to suit a teacher. ( :
As for the iron issue...my best wishes to you. I never make it past the waiting room to give blood - the thought of it makes me light headed (which is probably due to an iron deficienty that I'm unaware of).
Congrats on being low on iron. I find when I am low on iron I can justify being lazy and un-motivated. So go lay down, sit back and do nothing. Sorry about the late night. There must be something in the air, both the boys have come down to our room for the past 4 nights. Just call me tonight, I should be up as well.
When you get hooked up with the extra iron - give me a call and I'll tell you the remedy to combat the extra iron . . .
(heee-heee)
My iron is low too.
