Stuck in the 90's...

I feel as if I've been in a steel bunker shielded from any musical progress for the last decade. Having wee ones in the car and at home all day I find it has stifled my own musical development. Last night I downloaded the Cha Cha Slide for Seth. He loves to dance and I figured that the CCS would keep him busy for a while. It has. He loves it and wants to do it over and over again. I will tape him and post soon.

While I was perusing iTunes I realized how really out of it I am. I listened to some of the things Jared has downloaded and discovered that I really like Nickleback. I recognized all of the songs that he had, but would not have known who sang them to save my life.

So...I am asking you to bring me up to speed. We have about 10 years to catch up on. There are way too many artists out there on iTunes, so I need to have it narrowed down for me.

Just so you know I'm good on recent show tunes...we have Wicked and other musicals down to a perfection...that would be all of us...even my 8, 6 & 3 year old boys. They are totally going to get beat up...

Where do I begin with the great artists...any particular type of music you're fond of? That's a great starting point. ( : Glad to see you're back on your blog - I've been missing my Hansen updates. Hope all is well. Love, Kris

I have a sister that is under 30 that keeps me sort of current, I have always just really liked music too soooo...try...Brandi Carlili- The Story, Coldplay-A Rush Of Blood to the Head, Shins-Wincing the Night Away, Barenaked Ladies-anything they are always a favorite, and Travis-The Boy With No Name. That should do for now.

I'm so out of the loop too. I went to download some songs for my blog the other day...I sat there forever trying to think of someone to search for. I ended up picking songs from high school. When you learn something send it my way.

I'm pretty much out of it too but try that guy, what's his name, Jack something? The one that did the music for the Curious George movie. I also like Norah Jones and Matchbox 20. Travi would marry Cold Play if I hadn't gotten to him first.

Jack Johnson is the artist Ann is talking about...he's very good. You could also try KT Tunstall, Joshua Radin, Maroon 5 has some good new music out, Regina Spektor (I really like her), Michael Buble, The Weepies, John Mayer, Paolo Nutini, Corrine Bailey Rae, Brandi Carlile - and even though Scot & Jared make fun of me for it, Ne-Yo (I like him...Shane Sparks has choreographed a few dances using his songs on So you think you can dance, which was how I grew to love him). If you need some song name recommendations, I'm available for consultations.

Mindy Smith also has a couple great mellow songs too.

Kris is just trying to show off by listing all of those singers...truth is those are the only ones she knows...and she knows them because of me. J/K Call me...I got all sorts of ideas for you. ;)One of my current favorites is The Muse- "Starlite". Good one. And I totally love Imogen Heap (former lead singer for Frou Frou). Love you. I too have missed your blog. :-)

Sarah...don't even try to take credit for my great taste in music. ( : I too think you'd like that Starlite song the Muse, and Sarah CAN take credit for introducing me to that one.
