Spring has sprung for realzies!!

We have had beautiful weather the past few days...it's still chilly at night, but the days have been wonderful!

Jonah's broke out his new spring fashions this morning and walked out the door with black shorts and a black turtle neck on. I have said time and time again...he was sent to humble me.

My crocus' have popped up and are starting to bloom. They seem to be the only bulbs that survive here. I planted them about 5 years ago and they keep on coming up, so I feel successful in that venture.

I got to go with Jonah on his field trip to the Natural Science Museum yesterday. Always a treat to spend a day at a crowded museum with a bunch of 2nd grade boys. I found myself thinking back to Rachel's 2nd grade trip to the museum and how different it was...a few girls who are desperate to fill out every piece of the paper their teacher has given them...and wanting to soak in every detailed description of each exhibit.

The boys lost their papers about 15 minutes into the trip...oops...and all they wanted to do is show each other up with how much weight they could heft in the weights and measures part of the museum. Oh and there was a lot of pointing to body parts on the stuffed animal exhibits..and some smells and sounds that came from the boys themselves. All in all it was a good trip.

Now I have the Kindergarten trip to the oil ranch on April 4th and whatever Rachel's field trip is on May 18th. By 4th grade parents generally don't go--unless you have a child that they are concerned will spontaneously combust and then they want you to be there. I'm just hoping it doesn't require me to ride on the bus. I was feeling sad for my friend Marti who's daughter Sydni also has diabetes...Marti had to ride the bus yesterday down to the museum. What's funny is that both she and I have had parents say things under their breath complaining that we got to ride the bus while no other parents were allowed. Apparently some people enjoy sitting on a smelly school bus with no shocks and with 50 screaming 2nd graders. I'm waiting for someone to say something to my face though and I will reply...if you want the "priviledge" of riding on the bus you can have the whole package!!

Happy Spring Y'all!!
