Boy oh Boy!

So last night the kids were all in bed--minus Seth. I'm in the kitchen cleaning up and my 2 1/2 year old comes walking down the stairs with a milk jug saying "I want some of dis juice." Upon examining the jug I know immediately that it is not juice and I know exactly where--or WHOM in this case--it came from! (Those of you who know our kids will know it was Jonah and those who have been reading my blog for any amount of time will have guessed that it is Jonah...)

So I immediately confiscate the "juice" from Seth and get him some real juice. After deciding that pulling him out of bed by his toenails was not the best option...I took a milk jug that was about empty...poured the remaining milk in a pitcher for the morning. I rinsed out the jug and filled it with some apple juice and water and put it in the fridge.

I am always harping on the kids for pouring too much juice and milk and wasting it, so I decided this was my opportunity for a really great prank! So this morning when the kids were eating breakfast Jared pulled out the jug of juice. Mentioned to Jonah that we had found it in his room and reminded him that I have told them not to waste it and so he was going to have to drink it with his breakfast. Jared poured 2 glasses one for him and one for Jonah. As Jared started to drink his--a very panicked Jonah made a B-line for the bathroom to hide.

Jared went and got him and asked him what the problem was and he confessed to using the milk jug as a restroom. They had a long talk about why this practice is not appropriate and Jared let him in on my juice prank. There was also some discussion with Jonah as to why he decided to hide and allow his father to drink what he thought was urine...he couldn't quite explain that choice.

Ya know we have 3 working toilets and plenty of good trees out in the yard if none of the toilets are available. Someday I'm sure I will understand what goes on inside the minds of little boys.
