The other day Seth and I were at Kroger. As we wove up and down the aisles he was singing the word "kwanza". I got several strange looks. We do not look like your typical Kwanza celebrating people.
Tonight we began to burn the traditional Christmas candle. Jared marks off 24 lines on the candle and we burn one each night as we read a Christmas story. Tonight I had Luke blow it out when it had come to the appropriate line. He sat and looked at it for a minute after he'd blown it out. And then he said, "Are we doing this to celebrate Kwanza?"
Jared and I must be doing a poor job teaching our children of our beliefs. They have learned about Kwanza from a Blue's Clues Holiday episode we've watched several times already this season. I guess it's time to put that away and break out the Luke II DVD. We'll make sure and watch that one tomorrow.
Happy Kwanza to all of you participating in Kwanza festivities.
