We pulled it off!!
A month ago when my parents were in Houston we decided to go Salt Lake for Christmas. We decided we would try to wait as long as we could before telling the kids. I thought for sure I would blow the whole thing. Actually, Thursday night Rachel told Jared she thought something was up because I wanted to blow dry her hair!
We sent the kids to school yesterday and at 11:00 surprised them by picking them up even earlier than the 12:40 short day that they had. We had the car all packed and ready we headed straight to the airport. After 15 minutes of people demanding to know where they were going, we told them they'd have to go back home with Ken Hubnik (our driver) and spend Christmas with them if they didn't quit pestering us!
The mystery only lasted until we boarded the plane. We would have had to blind fold our 2 oldest to keep them in the dark (literally)--so they saw the sign that said SALT LAKE CITY. They were thrilled.
I sat next to Luke on the plane and as we were coming into Utah he said, "Can we go somewhere where it's cold?" I said, "SOLD!" I had him look out the window and tell me what he saw...mountains and snow... I asked him what places he knew that had mountains and snow. He said, "Antarctica and Grandma and Grandpa's house." I told him we were going to one of those places. I think he would have been happy with either, but he was very happy to see his grandparents at the airport!
It snowed last night, so there was quite a buzz when they woke up and pajamas flying as they got dressed to head out. I'm staying in. I'm a California/Texas girl now!

I am glad you did it. Sophie wanted Rachel to come over today - she still did not know. I had not told her so she did not spoil the surprise.
Have fun
iSo glad everyone loved the surprise. Can't wait to see you all next week!
